Accessing files when working remotely

We strongly encourage the use of cloud storage where possible. This will enable real-time collaboration, reduce the risk of data loss and allow you to access your data from any device, anywhere.

OneDrive for Business

OneDrive for Business is an integral part of Microsoft 365, it provides a place in the cloud where University staff can store, share and sync personal work files.

You can update and share your files from any device that supports OneDrive for Business this includes mobile devices, Mac, and PC as well as in a web browser. This will allow you to collaborate with colleagues and external partners in real time.

SharePoint

Organisations use Microsoft SharePoint to create websites. You can use it as a secure place to store, organise, share, and access information from any device. SharePoint as service at the University of Worcester is defined as a document storage and collaboration area.

We’ve launched Departmental SharePoint sites to allow staff to store and share departmental, school, or area-specific information in the cloud.

SharePoint allows you to work collaboratively with colleagues internal to the institution or partners external to the University.

Teams sites

Teams sites can be created for specific groups or project teams. Teams sites allow groups to work collaboratively to achieve a goal. A Teams site is defined as a short-term collaborative area used for a time-limited project or joint venture.

O: / N: Drive

When working remotely, you can access the O: and N: drives via Windows Virtual Desktop. You will need to request access, please use the Windows Virtual Desktop request form on the IT self-service portal to request this service.
