Research shows that long hours and the pressure to always be available can lead to employee burnout. The amount of time you spend collaborating outside of business hours can be an indicator that you are at risk of burnout, even as you and your team embrace flexibility.
This feature can help protect your quiet time, which is the hours each day when you want to disconnect from work and recharge. To minimize work related interruptions, you can schedule when you want mobile notifications from Outlook and Teams to automatically be muted.
To configure your Quiet time, you’ll first need to access the Viva Insights app.
Viva Insights can be accessed via a web browser or it can be added to your Microsoft Teams desktop app.
Web app
If you do not see the Viva Insights app listed, scroll to the bottom of the apps list then choose All Apps.
Teams app
Access the Viva Insights app then select the Protect time tab. If you haven’t configured your quiet time before, select ‘Get started’ in the quiet time box.
Mute mobile notifications for certain hours
To mute mobile Teams and Outlook notifications outside of your working hours, set your Start time and End times accordingly.
For example, if you work 9am to 5pm you may wish to set your quiet time to begin at 5pm and end at 8am. Ensure you toggle the feature switch to the On position.
To ensure Quiet time mutes your notifications on the correct days you’ll need to check the days of the week that you work. i.e Mon-Fri.
To mute mobile notifications all day:
To mute mobile Teams and Outlook notifications all day you can select the checkboxes for the days you do not work.
For example, to mute notifications at the weekend you need to check Sun and Sat then toggle the feature switch to the On position.
