How can I block an external contact in Microsoft Teams?

Blocking external contacts in Teams

  1. Within Microsoft Teams, select the ‘Chat‘ tab from the Microsoft tab.
  1. If you have received a message from someone outside of the University of Worcester, you will see the ‘external’ tag next to their name in the chat list.
  1. Move the mouse over the chat list and select ‘
  1. From the pop up menu select ‘Block
  1. You will receive pop up information to read about how the contact may still be able to contact you. Select ‘Block‘.

Remove contacts from your blocked contacts list

  1. Within Microsoft Teams select your profile icon in the top right hand corner. This will be your initials or a profile photo you have set.
  1. Select ‘Manage accounts‘ from the drop down menu.
  1. Select ‘Privacy‘ from the left hand menu.
  1. Under the ‘Blocked contacts’ heading, select ‘Edit blocked contacts
  1. Select ‘Unblock‘ next to the number you wish to unblock
