How do I print from a University device on the wired network?

The University uses a single print queue across all campuses called ‘University Print’.
To print from a University computer connected to the wired network please follow the steps below:

Add a job directly to your queue (University devices)

When sending a job to the printer select ‘University Print’ from the list of printers. For an Office program such as Word this is usually found under File > Print.

Release a print job

To release a print job from your queue you will need to log into one of our Multi-Function Devices (MFDs). To do this hold your staff or student card against the card reader. You should then see a list of the jobs you have submitted, select one, and press Print to release it or select Print all to print all queued jobs. You can also type in your account username and password to login.

Note on standard print settings

Please note that all University Print jobs are set to black and white (mono) and double-sided (duplex) by default to reduce paper and toner waste. You can change this in the printer options when sending a job to print. If you choose colour in error there is an option to change to black & white (mono) at the time of releasing the print job.

Wireless printing

To print wirelessly or from your own device, you can:

  • Connect to the Corporate@UW wireless network to submit your print job as above
  • If away from campus or working from eduroam you can use our Webprint service. See the Webprint FAQ page for more details.
