How to register a new device for Multi-Factor Authentication?

If you have recently changed your phone you will need to setup the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new device. You will easily be able to do this if you have access to your previous device for the initial sign in. Follow the steps below to setup the app on your new device.


If you do not have access to your previously registered device or are experiencing difficulties:

  • Call us Monday – Friday 08:30 to 21:00 & Saturday – Sunday 8:00 to 21:00 on 01905 85 7500.
  • Visit us at our walk-up support desk – Peirson Study and Guidance Centre, 1st Floor. Open Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

To continue with these steps you will need access to your old device, if you do not have access please give us a call.

  1. Go to: https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ and sign in with your existing University of Worcester credentials.
  2. Under the Security info section select β€˜Update infoβ€˜
  1. You will then see a list of your existing multi-factor authentication methods. You can remove your previous device by selecting β€˜Deleteβ€˜ for the corresponding authentication method. You will then be able to register your new device by selecting β€˜+ Add sign-in methodβ€˜
  1. Select β€˜Authenticator appβ€˜ from the drop down list, then select β€˜Addβ€˜.
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to guide you through the app registration process
