How to register a new device for Multi-Factor Authentication?

If you have recently changed your phone you will need to setup the Microsoft Authenticator app on your new device. You will easily be able to do this if you have access to your previous device for the initial sign in. Follow the steps below to setup the app on your new device.


If you are unable to access your account please contact the IT Service Desk to get your multi-factor authentication reset:

  • Call us Monday – Friday 08:30 to 17:00 on 01905 85 7500.
  • Visit us at our walk-up support desks:
    • Peirson Study and Guidance Centre, 1st Floor. Open Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.
    • Hive, Level 3. Open Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, Saturday 10am – 5pm.
  • Check out our Help & Contacts page for ways we can support you.

  1. Go to: https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ and sign in with your existing University of Worcester credentials.
  2. Under the Security info section select ‘Update info
  1. You will then see a list of your existing multi-factor authentication methods. You can remove your previous device by selecting ‘Delete‘ for the corresponding authentication method. You will then be able to register your new device by selecting ‘+ Add sign-in method
  1. Select ‘Authenticator app‘ from the drop down list, then select ‘Add‘.
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to guide you through the app registration process
