Digital Services are planning a series of AV and PC upgrades in several teaching rooms across our campuses to improve the classroom experience for staff and students. Our aim is to complete most of this work by September 2026.
Any work that cannot be completed before the start of term will be scheduled for the Christmas break.
A key focus of the programme is improving the quality and flexibility of Panopto lecture capture. In all the upgraded rooms, staff will be able to use wearable microphones, reducing the need to remain close to the lectern to capture audio. Planned upgrades include:
BY1148, BYG198, EEG027 , CH1008, CH1003 and CH2003 – a full AV upgrade including a large height-adjustable screen, button controls, a wearable microphone and PC screen capture for lecture recording and a hearing assistance system.
EE1101 – a full AV upgrade including a large height-adjustable screen, repeater screens, button controls, a wearable microphone and PC screen capture for lecture recording and a hearing assistance system. The PCs in this room will also be upgraded.
CHG011 – a full AV upgrade including a large height-adjustable screen, repeater screens, button controls, a wearable microphone and PC screen capture for lecture recording and a hearing assistance system.
JL1002 (Court Room) – a full AV upgrade including large repeater screens, touch panel controls, a wearable microphone, PC screen capture and multi-camera tracking for lecture recording, MS Teams integration, ceiling microphones for capturing audio across the room, and a hearing assistance system. This will provide the most enhanced capture setup in the programme, supporting both Panopto and hybrid teaching activity.
EEG031 – all PCs in the room will be upgraded.
Digital Services will also be replacing the projectors in EEG164 and CH2001 with large display screens.
