The current format of the Staff Homepage has faithfully served the University for quite a few years now however many will agree it’s begun to look outdated and in need of a facelift.

To address this, we’ve rebuilt the page from the ground up using the MyDay platform which is already utilised by our students to access their online resources.

We know there’s likely to be a few questions, so we’ve put together the guide below to help answer them.

When will the page change?

The page will switchover on August 1st 2024

What will the page look like?

The page will constantly be updated as content changes but these images will give you an idea of what it will look similar to at launch:

How can I access it?

The page will still be accessible in the same manner as the old one from the “Staff” button at the bottom of the main University homepage. If you have the old page bookmarked in your browser or in linked documents, the old URL will automatically redirect to the new one.

You can also follow this link here to browse directly to the page.

Are there any new features?

Yes – this isn’t just a cosmetic refresh, new features ensure the page is more useful to staff, such as banners, temporary tiles for seasonal or short term posts along with integration with other services such as Microsoft 365 to provide information at a glance.

It now also possible for us to group sets of linked resources together by relevance so it’s more logical to find what you’re looking for.

For example, the new Academic Services tile groups learning platforms such as Blackboard, Pebblepad and Vevox together, along with links to other helpful resources such as the Technology Enhanced Learning webpages and recently revamped Study Skills portal (amongst others) as can be seen here:

How do I request new content to be added to the page e.g. a new banner or link?

The University’s MyDay policy (found here) explains the processes for requesting or modifying the University’s MyDay pages. This includes updating existing elements, adding temporary tiles or changing banners.

Will I still be able to access everything I need?

Absolutely, almost all the content from the original page has been moved over and only resources that were out of date and unused were removed.

What if I can’t find something?

Certain services have been grouped together by relevance so please familiarise yourself with the new format. Sub-dashboards are also in development for later launches for Human Resources and Finance to group their services together.

It’s also worth noting that certain applications from the older page such as Car Parking Permits, Blackboard Module Access requests and Timesheet Approvals have been grouped together under the Staff Web Applications tile.

Can I personalise the layout?

We’d recommend using the format as shown but, if necessary, you can customise this, and move tiles around to suit the applications you use most. You can do this via the “Personalise” button on the top left of page.

You can then also reset the layout to its default configuration, which is worth doing if you have personalised it and then can’t find a feature or service.
