Getting started with SharePoint sites [ITSP01]

Description: This entry-level workshop presents an overview and a practical look at SharePoint sites and is designed to help you get started with storing and sharing business-critical data using SharePoint. There will be opportunities to seek advice, clarifications and ask questions about SharePoint and its features. Prior experience with OneDrive is beneficial, if you’re new to cloud storage please consider attending the ‘Getting started with OneDrive’ workshop first. Access to an example site will be provided as part of the training.

Participants: This workshop is designed for SharePoint site members.

Facilitator: Jack Carver (Senior IT Training Analyst)

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand what SharePoint sites are, what they’re for and how to access them
  • How to access and use the document libraries
  • Share files/folders and manage sharing link permissions
  • Recover items from the site Recycle Bin and previous versions of documents
  • Learn about the available support and your responsibilities as a site member

Administering SharePoint sites [ITSP02]

Description: This intermediate-level workshop provides nominated SharePoint site owners with the required knowledge to administer their SharePoint site and support site members. There will be opportunities to seek advice, clarifications and ask questions about SharePoint and its features.

Pre-requisites: Attendees are expected to have some prior experience with OneDrive and SharePoint. We recommend that you first attend the ‘Getting started with SharePoint sites’ training workshop. If you do not wish to do this, please ensure you have read the information on the SharePoint page on the IT Service website.

Participants: This workshop is recommended for all nominated SharePoint site owners.

Facilitator: Jack Carver (Senior IT Training Analyst)

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn how to add site owners, members and visitors
  • Learn how to manage document library, folder and file permissions
  • Gain an awareness of the essential site owner administration tools
  • Understand how to plan your data migration strategy
  • Know your responsibilities as a site owner
