Microsoft SharePoint is a web-based platform used by organisations to create websites for various purposes. At the University of Worcester, we’re using SharePoint to create cloud storage sites that help centralise our business-critical data.

These SharePoint sites provide a secure and collaborative environment for storing, organising, sharing, and accessing information from any internet-connected device.

While we’re not mandating that users make the switch to SharePoint, it is a great way to centralise business-critical data and replace the need for network-attached-storage using the O: Drive.

LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform owned by LinkedIn that is used to help staff learn business, software, technology and creative skills through guided videos and tutorials.

SharePoint Online Essential Training: The Basics

In this course, Gini von Courter demonstrates the essential skills you need to work with SharePoint Online. Gini covers essential features such as log in, navigation, use of team and communication sites, editing and coauthoring documents, working with lists, integration with Microsoft 365, and document storage. She begins with basics like logging in and using the start page, then jumps into navigation, permissions, editing your profile, searching in SharePoint Online, posting news, and much more. Gini walks you through using the document library in SharePoint Online, as well as opening, editing, and saving a document. She shows you how to manage documents, view versions, share files, and more. Gini goes over how to use list apps in SharePoint, then finishes up with useful advice on integrating SharePoint Online with Teams and Outlook.

Here, instructor Gini von Courter breezes past basic concepts, focusing instead on techniques that can help power users and site owners leverage the intermediate and advanced features of SharePoint Online.
