Lectern equipment (Microphone & PC)

If you require assistance locating or using specific lectern equipment, please see the below guides for basic troubleshooting.

The lectern houses all of the equipment required to teach and present. With a microphone, Doc-camera, Peripherals and PC.


Microphone and communication equipment.

Faults with the audio communication equipment should be reported to the IT Service Desk 01905 85 7500.

Omnidirectional Mic

The microphone equipment is powered on as standard and will sync with the room’s sound systems automatically. You can mute the microphone using the Crestron panel should you desire.


Document camera.

Faults with the Document Camera should be reported to the IT Service Desk 01905 85 7500

EE G164 Document Camera

To use the document camera, you will find the correct display input option on the home screen of the Crestron panel, labelled ‘Document Camera’.

Controls for the Document Camera can be found on the top of the base of the unit, the camera can be found at the end of the adjustable arm. Look for the LED light that indicates power, and that the device is turned on.

Power in and HDMI out are located at the rear of the base of the unit.


The lectern PC.

The PC is housed within a cutout. Please check that it is powered on, any issues with the PC should be reported to the IT Service Desk 01905 85 7500.

Lectern PC

The lectern PC is housed within the cabinet section of the lectern. The power button and several USB inputs are accessible to users through the cutout provided for access.

No Display/ No Signal

If there is no display projected onto the large screen when using the main lectern, or if there is a display powered on with no image, please follow the steps below to check for basic faults.

  • When using the main lectern PC, please check that the correct input on the Crestron panel is selected (PC).

The correct input option to display the lectern panel is ‘PC’. Please allow a few seconds for the capture devices to sync after the option has been selected.

For external display devices, please see the section below on bring your own devices.


  • Check the display prjection settings.

Holding down the Window’s key and pressing the letter ‘P’ will bring up the ‘Project’ menu settings. Here you can change how your display is shared to other connected displays.

If you are using a lectern PC or Laptop, ensure that ‘Duplicate’ or ‘Extend’ is selected so that the desktop can be shown on the large projection screen.


  • Check that the projector is correctly synced and working.
Projector Status

Please check to see if there are any flashing or solid red lights under ‘Status’ and/or ‘Power’ indicators. This could be a sign that the devices are not synced up properly or there is a problem with the image signal.

If there seems to be a problem with the device, please contact the IT Service Desk 01905 85 7500 for further support.


  • Check that the connections to the display are secure.
Monitor connections

Please ensure that the connections for Display, HDMI and power are all connected securely.

Extensive stress and movement of the monitor and monitor arm may cause these connections to become unseated.

For damaged cables, Please contact the IT Service Desk 01905 85 7500 and speak to an available analyst.

No Sound / Sound is too quiet

If there is no sound or the sound is too quiet, please follow the steps below to check for basic faults.

  • Check that the correct sound output device is selected.

The correct sound output option for the room speakers is the ‘Crestron 420 *intel(R) Display Audio)’ output. Selecting anything else may lead to users being unable to hear the intended sound from the display.

From here you can also check to see what volume setting is selected for that output device.

Other sound options are available. If you believe there is a fault with the Crestron system and sound does come out of other devices. Please contact the IT Service Desk 01905 85 7500 and speak to an available analyst.


  • Check that the volume is sufficient for your use.
Crestron Panel

Using the volume up and volume down buttons on the Crestron Panel, adjust the volume to suite your needs.

If this does not work or you are still unable to hear sound, please contact the IT Service Desk 01905 85 7500 and speak to an available analyst.


If you believe there to be a fault with the audio equipment within the Lectern, please contact the IT Service Desk 01905 85 7500 and speak to an available analyst.

Bring your own device / Peripherals

To use your own device, work laptop or similar display equipment (BYOD) or to check for faults with the peripheral equipment in the room, please follow these steps to check for basic faults.

  • How to use your own work laptop or other external display output device.
Laptop right-side ports

The external display port of your University of Worcester laptop is shown here. It is found on the right side of your laptop and is marked with ‘HDMI’. Match this port with the corresponding connection cable leading from the lectern.

Other external display cables are available, and can be found attached to the Kramer cable bundle. If you are using a device not provided by the University of Worcester, please check for an approriate connection within the bundle as we may not be able to support your device if it is not found there.

Creston Panel

If you wish to use any other external input please select your desired input option from the displayed list on the Crestron panel.

If you don’t see this menu, select the home ⌂ button and wait for the main menu to appear.
