Description
Occasionally, the University’s Windows Virtual Desktop Solution may not be suitable for staff to complete a networked activity when working remotely. When this is the case, they can be connected using the Fortinet Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. This will mimic a connection to the University’s network directly on the machine being used.
Setup for this can be requested via the IT Service Desk, where an analyst will be able to walk staff through which solution is the most appropriate to use.
When using a University machine, Staff can download FortiClient software to enable this. If using a personal device, they will have to use a web browser-based version instead.
The service now uses two-factor authentication for security so this will need to be configured as part of the setup process.
